Sunday will see the auspicious onset of Navratri, the festival celebration of Maa Durga’s win over evil as she overpowers the buffalo-demon Mahisasura. The celebrations will span over nine nights commemorating nine avtaars of goddess Durga.

Each of the nine avtaars (Goddess Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, Siddhidatri) are celebrated in a different colour each night.

In Hong Kong, Kowloon Hindu Mandir has organized the asthapna on Sunday, 29th September followed by prayers, aarti and mata ki chowki each night along with Durgashtmi Havan on Sunday, 6th October.

Monday, 7th October, the last day of the festival, Hong Kong will see the biggest Navratri night of the year – A-DesiFlava’s Navratri Utsav at Kaifong Welfare Associaton from 6 pm onwards. Let’s welcome Goddess Durga with gusto and glory. Jai Mata Di.
