“My Boy: A Nostalgic Journey Exhibition” at MTR Hong Kong Station Showcasing Rare Manuscripts & Iconic Illustrations by Wong Sze Ma New Tribute Works by Local Artists, Featuring Jan Lamb, Eric Kot, Gigi Leung & Li Chi Tak
The 1970s was a golden era of Hong Kong comics – creating a cherished, collective childhood memory for many who saw these comics as a friend, an emotional outlet. Comics were not just a form of entertainment but a cultural phenomenon that mirrored and shaped society. Among the pioneers of story-driven Hong Kong comics, Wong Sze Ma (My Boy), Wong Chak (Old Master Q), and Lee Wai-chun (Miss 13 Dots) were the heroes that promoted local comic culture, influencing generations of artists and readers alike.
As one of the most beloved creations of its time, My Boy captivated audiences with its humorous and heartwarming four-panel comic strips, offering a glimpse into the everyday lives of Hong Kong families. The series became a staple in newspaper comic strips, resonating across generations with its timeless storytelling.
Since its establishment in 1979, MTR has grown alongside the people and city of Hong Kong, witnessing the city’s transformation while carrying the memories of countless passengers. In celebration of Hong Kong Arts Month this March, MTR proudly presents “My Boy: A Nostalgic Journey Exhibition”, paying tribute to this legendary comic and inviting the public to relive the nostalgia of classic Hong Kong comics during their journeys.
