The excitement from the inaugural Tung Chung Premier League Cricket Tournament in April 2025 ignited a fire in our hearts, leading us to launch this thrilling second season in November 2025. As discussions kicked off in October, enthusiasm skyrocketed within our community. Spirits were high, and the motto we embraced, “ज़िन्दगी बड़ी होनी चाहिए, लंबी नहीं,” echoed our belief in the value of meaningful experiences.
This year, we focused on inclusivity with larger team sizes while keeping matches concise at 5 overs. Each of the four teams comprised 7 players, introducing an impact player alongside two kids and a lady, making it a true family affair!
The Team Spirit
The spirit of “Competitive Fun” guided us in forming the teams. Captains were selected based on their past performances, commitment, and availability.
Just like Mogambo needed Daga and Teja, our captains were on a mission to secure the best players. After spirited negotiations, एक लंबी बहस और कुछ दोस्तों की बीच-बचाव के बाद, the teams were finalized.
Logistics followed: we ordered vibrant team T-shirts, each team selected a unique color theme, and arranged for tennis balls, trophies, and medals for the award ceremony.

Embracing the Unexpected
Just as iconic films like Sholay was written with Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha in mind and Zanjeer was written with Dharmendra in mind, but the starcast changed; our tournament faced its own casting changes. Key players backing out required a serious rethink of team dynamics. Thankfully, the resourceful captains (Rajat, Nitin, Tarun & Vivek) found substitutes whose skills matched at least 70% to 80% of the original players, ensuring team balance.
‘With great power comes great responsibility’, and also more electricity bills. Captains were tasked with ensuring that kids and ladies enjoyed a fair chance to participate in each match, starting with at least one over for them in both batting and bowling.
A New Twist: The Bowl-Out
A notable twist this year was the introduction of a bowl-out in case of a tied match, adding extra suspense to the games. We yearned to recreate the electrifying atmosphere of the ‘2007 T20 World Cup: India vs. Pakistan,’ where India triumphed in the first and only bowl-out!
Bhuvan would have lost the match in the final in Lagaan, had the umpire not given a fair decision for the no-ball in the end.
Fair play was also crucial; with some persuasion, Sambhav ji became our umpire, and Shiva ji took on the role of official scorer, ensuring solid officiating.
Community Spirit
The tournament was set for November 29, from 6 PM to 11 PM. Players’ families volunteered to provide snacks, and everyone chipped in for a post-match feast of delicious pizza. Of course, there was no shortage of tea (चाय) to keep everyone energized!
Six exhilarating round-robin matches unfolded, culminating in an unexpected twist: three teams emerged victorious with two wins each! This set the stage for a dramatic bowl-out to determine the finalists.
A noteworthy round robin match between TC Warriors and TC Champions saw Vivek score 31 runs in the last two overs to secure a victory; he hit 10 boundaries in that match.
Epic Showdown: TC Warriors vs. TC Champions
In a breathtaking final match clash, TC Warriors and TC Champions faced off, reigniting the rivalry from Season 1. Everyone held their breath in anticipation! However, the bowlers of TC Warriors had other plans; they asserted it was their time to shine, quoting ‘why should only batsman have all the fun’
Captain Vivek won the toss and chose to bowl first. The first over was thrilling, with female players Aruna ji and Aashi restricting runs to just 2. In came star bowler Parv, who struck gold on his first ball, catching Dhruvil off guard. Parv quickly turned up the heat, bowling out Ruchi ji as he pursued a hat trick, only to be thwarted by Niyati, who had her sights set on scoring runs!
Kashish’s following over shifted the game’s momentum as he took crucial wickets, catching both Tarun, the captain of TC Champions, and Shekhar (the PotT of season1), a special mention to Mohit who took an amazing catch, within the same over.
Vineet, an impact player filling in for Raj, made his mark by also taking two wickets, bowling out Abhishek and catching out the formidable Sharad, who had been keeping his team’s hopes alive with impressive shots.
In a nail-biting finish, Niyati remained not out at the end of five overs, demonstrating unwavering confidence with a respectable score of 15 runs for her team.
The match epitomized the spirit of the friendly tournament, showcasing commendable sportsmanship and determination. The TC Warriors’ remarkable bowling skills snatched victory from the TC Champions, who were the favorites!
The vibrant energy of the kids performing cheerleading, led by Geet and Kavya, boosted the confidence of TC Warriors as they cheered, ‘Let’s go, Blue team! Let’s go!’
